The Unstreamables Is Growing—And I Need Your Help

I've been trying to get The Unstreamables in front of the right people, and so far, it’s working. We’ve got 94 unique viewers and 21 subscribers... a 22% subscriber rate is wild for a brand-new channel.

I've likely got to keep my expectations in check: Most people lurk, and that's just a fact. They need a reason to jump in.

I hope I can scale this at that same ratio of ~22% of people hitting subscribe (1900% growth lol). As we know, hope is not a strategy, so keep reading for some ideas/experiments.

Detailed metrics for The Unstreamables channel. The Unique Viewers metric shows 94 unique viewers, and the Subscribers section confirms +20 subscribers

Tangent Incoming

Sunday night, we went to a lasagna cook-off at our local LGBTQ spot, Someday Bar.  Yes, Lasagnapalooza is a thing, and yes, it was incredible and yes, the emcee and judge was Ethel Furman.

Garfield Loves Lasagna.

The chefs were from different breweries and distributors, and in between bites of ricotta, I met folks who run podcasts about the hospitality industry. It got me thinking: How do people find the indie, DIY, and under-the-radar stuff they actually care about?

So, let’s talk. What’s a hidden gem—music, film, zine, anything—you love that doesn’t get enough attention? Drop it in the comments or DM me.

I want to feature more finds from actual people, not algorithms.

Experiments I’m thinking of running:

1️⃣ The One-on-One Approach – Instead of blasting social media, I’m personally reaching out to people. I want real stories, not just clicks.

2️⃣ Open Questions on Social Media – “What’s a film you love that nobody else seems to know?” Testing this in different groups and seeing what sparks discussion.

3️⃣ Stickers & Flyers in the Wild – I’m thinking of putting up QR codes at record stores, coffee shops, and bookstores. Let’s see if IRL discovery still works.

4️⃣ A Zine/Mail Art Experiment – Sending out actual, physical media to people who love this stuff. Will anyone scan a QR code in 2025? We’re about to find out.

5️⃣ YouTube Live & Collabs – Can we crowdsource an episode? Who would be cool to talk to about lost media?

6️⃣ Indie Podcast Cross-Promotion – Turns out a ton of people make niche podcasts. Let’s swap guest spots or plugs and share audiences.

7️⃣ Crowdsourced Episode – Can I get people to record a quick voice memo about their favorite unstreamable treasure? I think so.

I’m sharing these ideas because I want The Unstreamables to be built with people, not just for them. If any of this sounds interesting, subscribe for free at TheUnstreamables.com or YouTube.com/@unstreamables. Even better, drop a comment or send me a message.

What should we cover next?
